Family Tradition

I love my family, well sometimes. I am always quarreling with one family member most often my mother, father or my grandmother. I am sure it is because we are all stubborn, and dominant. However it sure makes for an entertaining scene. amongst all the pushing and shoving i love them nonetheless.

in my family we haven't really had a tradition we must repeat every year except for maybe a battle with wrapping paper and the challenging race on who gets seconds on the green bean casserole. any traditions that we have come out around the holidays. these silly traditions all start with Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving time comes and there are two must have dishes or Thanksgiving is incomplete. These two dishes are green bean casserole and sparkling cider. Green bean casserole being top priority. i am certain my family would be perfectly fine just eating green bean casserole and sparkling cider for the holiday. we it comes to serving dinner we all run for this appetizing vegetable dish and help ourselves to at least 2.5 to 3.5 heaping scoops. however my immediate family and my mom's side of the family is the only set of gathering out of the five dinner parties i go to including two of my boyfriends family dinners. My boyfriend has even come to enjoy this dish so much that i now have two bake two extra servings to bring to his gatherings now. why the obsession with the green bean, Frenches chedder onions, hearty cream of mushroom and cream cheese dish is beyond me but it succulent taste is a protagonist at the dinner table.

Following Thanksgiving, Christmas approaches one other family tradition that is an absolute must every single year is the battle of the wrapping paper canyon balls. every single Christmas since i could register the use of my upper arm strength to launch multiple wadded up ball of wrapping paper at my father, this battle has always been the event of the night at my grandparents Christmas party. when we arrive at the party we sit down catch up, watch football eat dinner and dessert, open presents and then reserve our wrapping paper for self defense weaponry. this is a personal favorite of my cousin and my father because they love to push buttons and purposely cause chaos. However i have quite the arm and i get my allies back.

Family traditions are in every family. mine specifically seem to be a contest of arm strength and consumption of green bean casserole.
